Kelso

I decided a few weeks ago to test a little off camera flash setup I had been thinking about. Still need to work out the kinks, but good ol’ Kelso was a very patient model while I experimented!

Taos

Here is a picture I took in Taos, NM last year. It’s really beautiful there. We were there as the ski season was winding down in 2007 and the temps were in the 60s and 70s while people were still skiing.

Tee-Pee Drive In

February 11th, 2008 2 Comments »

This is the Tee-Pee Drive In, in Sapulpa, OK. Which just so happens to be the town where I grew up, right on Route 66. This drive in has been closed for a while, but is for sale. Maybe somebody can restore it to it’s former glory.

The day I was there was not the best day for shooting black and white film. It was a cloudy day where the sky is almost all white. Plus, I was shooting expired film. Ilford Delta 100 Pro in my Bronica SQ-b.

Back To 1984…

January 31st, 2008 No Comments »

1984 was a good year. I was 12 years old. Mary Lou Retton won Gold in the Los Angeles Olympics. Prince released Purple Rain. And Pentax released the Super Program. Some articles on the net indicate it may have been introduced in 1983, but I don’t know as many cool facts about that year, so I am sticking with 84.

Anyway, I recently purchased one of these beauties from ebay, and it quickly became my new baby. The picture below is not my actual camera, I haven’t had time to photograph it yet. However, mine has a Pentax SMC 50mm 1.7 lens that is wonderful for portraits. I used it in the headshots below on my Pentax K10D. The lens alone was worth what I paid for the camera.

I made a bit of a resolution this year that I would get out and shoot more film. I need to stick to that. There is a snow storm coming here in the TUL, so maybe that will get me out to finish off the first roll.
